Animtreebird, that is a nice capture of another beautiful bird from India!
There is a cool video of this bird here: http://www.indiavideo.org/kerala/land-and-people/flora-and-fauna/wildlife/birds/lesser-goldenbacked-woodpecker-666.php
It looks a little like a miniature pileated woodpecker, but with some nice golden tones. Its amazing how many species of birds your country seems to have.
Animtreebird, that's a beautiful bird. My goodness, our woodpeckers surely don't have that many colors. I especially like the "golden" color on this bird.
Thanks Larry Jordan. But I boycot Kerala tourism. Because they are responsible for the deaths of lot of street dogs, elephants, turtles, rabbits, owls, etc, in the most inhumane manner possible. So I do not wish to even look at photos taken from that place.

I have recently not been posting any pictures of birds. I have been visiting places where there are a large population of birds, as frequently as possible. I have used Canon Powershot S3 IS and I think this is the best camera for beginners. I have also used Canon EOS 1000D. Another great camera for introduction to dSLR. Recently I have brought Canon 550D. But I have not yet started posting any photos yet. Will try to do so soon.
My other interest includes animal rights. There is definitely not much interest in animal welfare/animal rights activities in India and I hope to change that with the help of this blog. I would like to show people how wonderful animals, birds and trees are with the help of photography.
